Japanese consortium considering investment in green ammonia project in India

A Japanese consortium, including IHI Corporation, Hokkaido Electric Power, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), Mizuho Bank, and Tokyo Century Corporation, is considering investing in a green ammonia production project in Odisha, eastern India. The project aims to produce approximately 400,000 tons of green ammonia annually for export to Japan, targeting power generation and chemical companies. The consortium is evaluating the establishment of a special purpose company (SPC) to manage the ammonia production and investment, with the goal of creating a robust ammonia value chain.
